Add elastic
Adding elastic to the back of your dress can help to reduce the size of the gap.
To do this, measure the width of the gap and cut a piece of elastic to the same length. Then, sew one end of the elastic to the top of the gap and the other end to the bottom of the gap. Make sure to stretch the elastic as you sew to create a snug fit.
Use a safety pin
If you don’t have any sewing supplies on hand, you can use a safety pin to fix the gaping back on your dress. Simply pin the two sides of the gap together, making sure to keep the pin hidden on the inside of the dress. This is a temporary fix that can be easily removed when you have access to sewing supplies.
