Preparing Your Curtain
First, ensure your curtain is washed and cleaned before dying it. Give it a good scrubbing, rinse it out, and let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Choose Your Dye
The great thing about Rit dye is that there are so many colors to choose from! Pick the color best suits your style, bright and vibrant or subtle and muted. Once you’ve made your choice, read the instructions on the package carefully—the amount of dye needed will depend on what kind of fabric your curtain is made of.
Dye Away
Once your dye is ready, set yourself up in an area that won’t be damaged if there are any splashes or spills (like a sink or bathtub). Put on some protective gloves and fill up your container with lukewarm water (according to the instructions on the package), then add in the powdered dye and stir until everything is dissolved.
Now you’re ready to start dying! Submerge your curtain in the container and swish it around until each panel has been dyed evenly.
Once all of your meetings are nicely colored, rinse them off with cold water until all of the excess dye is gone. Then hang them up outside or inside (depending on where they’ll get more sunlight) until they’re scorched.
