Jeans Shorts: How to Cut Jeans Into Shorts

Jeans are one of those things that just seem to go together. They’re comfortable, versatile, and always stylish. But there’s something else about them that makes them perfect for summertime. And that’s their ability to transition seamlessly between casual and dressy occasions.

But if you’ve ever tried cutting off some of the legs of your favorite pair of denim, you know it’s not quite as simple as it sounds. Sure, you could do it yourself, but why bother when you can get professional help?

How to Cut Jeans Into Shorts

In this article, we’ll show you three easy ways to cut off the bottoms of your jeans. We’ll even give you tips on how to keep your new shorts looking good all season long.

Step 1 – Take Your Measurements

Before cutting, measure your current jeans for a few moments. Make sure you use a tape measure rather than a ruler. A ruler won’t provide accurate measurements.

Measure around your waistline, right above your hip bone. Then add 2 inches to that measurement. That’s your total length. Now measure from the front hem of your pants to the back hem. Add another inch to that measurement. That gives you the overall length of your pant leg.

Now divide the length of your pants by two. That’s the amount of fabric you need to remove from each side of your pants. For example, if your pants are 32 inches long, you’d want to remove 16 inches from each side.

If you’re unsure whether your jeans fit properly, try wearing them while sitting down. If they feel too tight, you may want to consider getting a belt.

Step 2 – Remove the Fabric

Once you’ve determined the size of the fabric, you need to remove, simply pull out the desired amount of fabric. Don’t worry about making clean cuts. Just rip the excess away.

You might notice that your jeans aren’t exactly flat after removing the fabric. That’s okay! Simply fold over the extra fabric and iron it flat.

Step 3 – Sew Up the Leaks

After you’ve removed the fabric, sew up any holes that appear. Use either a sewing machine or hand stitching. Either way, make sure you stitch along the inside seam of your pants.

This step is important because it prevents the remaining fabric from shifting during wear. Plus, it helps prevent fraying.

Step 4 – Wear ‘Em

When you’re done cutting, put on your new shorts and enjoy!

Are Jean Shorts Trendy for Guys?

Jean shorts are trending among men who prefer casual clothing. These shorts are very popular among young adults and college students. However, they aren’t necessarily trendy for everyone. Some people think that jean shorts are too casual for work attire, while others feel that they’re too dressy.

Some people think that jeans shorts are too casual for work apparel. Others think that they’re too dressier than khaki slacks or chinos.

The truth is that these shorts are perfectly acceptable in both situations. You don’t have to be concerned with what other people think. It’s more important to focus on what you like.
