Mom, Don’t Let the Kids Near the Polyester – Here’s How to Dye it Yourself!
In this blog post, I’ll show you how to dye your polyester at home and save yourself some cash in the process!
Gather Your Materials
Before you can get started, make sure you have all of your materials together. You’ll need a dye (Rit Dye), rubber gloves, a plastic bucket or container large enough for the garment, and some salt. You’ll also need access to hot water or boiling water if possible.
Prepare Your Fabric
Once you’ve gathered your supplies, it’s time to prepare the fabric for dying. First, ensure the fabric is clean and free of dirt or debris.
Pre-soak it in lukewarm water for 15 minutes before placing it into the dye bath. This will help ensure an even color throughout the garment when finished.
Dyeing Process
Now it’s time to start dying! Fill your bucket or container with hot water (or boiling water if possible) and add 1/2 cup of salt per gallon of water. Once mixed, add your desired amount of dye and stir until fully dissolved.
Finally, place your garment into the mixture and sit for 30 minutes while stirring occasionally. Once finished, rinse the garment until all traces of dye are gone and dry as normal.
Dying polyester is a great way to give new life to old clothes without spending too much money on expensive dyes from stores or professional services.
With just a few simple steps and materials from around the house, anyone can successfully dye their garments at home in no time! So don’t let those stains stop you from looking great – try dying them yourself today!
